Arrival of Dustbowl Deportees in California

California,1936, Migrant workers are rushing across the state border to find jobs to support their family. Each month, 7,000 migrant workers cross the border into California from the west. At first, California advertised for migrant workers to come, but what happened soon after shocked everyone. So many workers came, the LA Police department sent 136 deputies to the state border lines to send workers back. One person who knows this best is Florence Thompson, she migrated from Oklahoma to California in 1925. I met with her and she told me some very interesting news."It was very hard and cheap," Florence said. "We just existed! We survived, let's put it that way." Clearly not all migrant workers had the same success as others, some migrant workers who didn't find work lived in roadside ditch encampments. In my opinion, at first there wasn't enough migrant workers, but later on there were too many to count! What do you think?
